Back in the big city

So what did we do for three weeks at the beach you ask...go out to eat and play cards.  Durring our downtime when it wasn't nice enough to head outside we continued our ongoing pre-baby card tournament. I'm currently beating Jeff at Gin by 300 points (I think we're at abou 5,000 by now) Needless to say, there's been a lot of down time.  Then again, I guess eating fresh seafood in the tropics with no real schedule to speak of aint half bad.

The night before we were to leave for San Jose another earthquake hit.   That combined with the constant rainstorms was almost enough to put a person over the edge...then agin, I might be over reacting a bit seeing as I'm getting to the end of the pregnancy and feeling a little cranky as of late :-)

Oh and a word on the earthquakes:  I actually wrote to my college geology professor as it seemed odd that we were finding ourselves running out of the house once a week for the last three weeks straight.  She claims that the last big quake in September only released 40% of it's stress and as such, some regional adjustments are to be expected as things even themselves back out.  So not to fear, the world is not coming to an end after all... and as it turns out, it's still more important to watch out for falling coconuts than the shaking earth.

So we left the beach (and the rain) behind us and headed back to San Jose last week.  The coast was nice while it lasted but really happy to dry out for a bit.   Had our second checkup with the doc and all is fine and well on track for baby to show up in the next few weeks.

Over the weekend we met up with some of Jeff's family to check out a local farmers market.  Was fun walking through the market with all the tropical (and yes sometimes a bit odd) fruits and veggies.  Finished the day off with a good meal at a restaurant high above the city.  You can see why they built this city here, high in the mountains with San Jose center nestled between the towering peaks (the pictures really don't do it justice.)

Finally getting to that nesting phase and think I might be driving Jeff a bit nutty dragging him around to buy (senseless) baby items so today I decided to venture out on my own for the first time.  All in all a successful shopping trip was had, was able to negotiate the cab ride there and back with no hassle and even managed to buy a few items along the way.

Here's a few pics from the farmers market and a view from the hills above the city
