Our little girl was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on November 26th. Jeff would say it was an easy birth, I woud say that it was a quick one. We arrived at the hospital at 2am and she arrived at 5, only a short three hours later. Seems she was as eager as we were to get this new life kicked into gear. The clinic we used was a small private birthing center and at that time of night myself, Jeff, my mom and the doctors were the only ones there. I really couldn't have asked for a nicer transition to motherhood.
Everything went well, ten fingers and ten toes. She is (kind of) sleeping through the night and knock on wood, so far seems to be a relatively easy baby.
Here in Costa Rica Her full name is Gabriela Sofia Pines Walter. By law both parents last name is given to children meaning that the Walter lineage will continue here in the tropics :-)
After getting the all clear from our doctor we packed our bags and headed to the beach. Gabi took the ride in stride sleeping the whole 5 hour drive to the coast.
Finally we're where we will be spending the remainder of our time here. Moved into the bungalow and now that everything is unpacked and in its place we can take a deep breath and enjoy our time in lesure.
Here's some pics for those who've been asking.

Gabi's first day at the beach and true to form she slept right through it. We took her to a beach called Playa Pelada and caught the sunset. I still can't go swimming so being at beach is a bit bittersweet but at least we're out of San Jose!

Baby's second beach trip and Jeff decided today was the day to get her feet wet...literally. Now that we have a car we're making the daily sunset trip to the beach. One of my favorite things about being here are the sunsets. The sun goes down at the same time every day all year long. Around 4:30 everyone heads down to the beach: tourists, locals, surfers, yoga girlies, ticos, and ex pats...some bring their beers, and others their babies. A whole cross section of society comes together on the same little stip of sand to watch the day come to an end over the pacific. Pretty darn lucky to be a part of it.
